Our History

170 Years in the Making.

Oakover Wines from the Swan Valley, Western Australia are a fun, modern and fresh label, with a rich history in the region.

Our vineyards were initially established in this pioneering location in the 1850’s, with Samuel Moore planting his first grapes here due to its unique soil and climate, situated right on the banks of the Swan River. Moore had the foresight to know that all these factors made for perfect grape growing and winemaking conditions.

Nikola Yukich arrived in WA in 1923 at age 16 and purchased two hectares of this land seven years later. With wife Danica who he married in 1934, they began developing table grape production for sale at home, and later abroad.

Sons Norm and Mark expanded with further vineyard holdings until 1996, when Mark and sons Graeme and Kim rapidly developed further land holdings to establish major wine grape vineyards, and the Oakover Estate Winery.

Today Oakover Wines reflects a synergy between this heritage and the present day. Graeme and Kim Yukich, the 3rdgeneration, have continued the proud family tradition of growing quality grapes and producing premium wines reflecting the terroir of the region.

Our award-winning Senior Winemaker Damian Hutton guides our winemaking team with the philosophy of producing quality wines that offer exceptional quality and value, expressing true varietal character, depth of flavour and approachability.

We like to think that Oakover wines has well and truly delivered on Samuel Moore’s dream.
